walmart goes after pro-walmart blog

In a twist of irony, walmart’s lawyers are going after an ardent supporter of their business practices. details about on the site. After all I’ve written about walmart, in a decidedly negative tone, I would have expected to gain their attention first. Sweet, sweet irony.

In related news, The Washington Post reports that Maryland will require businesses with over 10,000 employees to pay 8% toward health care. This is a good start to defraying the annual 2.5 billion welfare cost that walmart pushes onto society by under paying its employees.

Update (19 Feb ‘06): This entry has been linked twice by other sites erroneously stating that I am a party to a lawsuit by Wal-Mart. To clarify, this isn’t the case and I wrote in jest. To the best of my knowledge, my critiques of the company are fair game and are not defamatory.

Tired of Wal-Mart’s crap? So are the rest of us! Take a stand and show them that they can’t get away with casually ignoring the rights of their workers here and in other countries. The International Labor Rights Fund is sponsoring a Worker Tour of Wal-Mart workers from all over the world who will come here to expose the glaring injustices that are far too routine in Wal-Mart’s suppliers’ factories and farms. For more information or to bring the worker tour to your community, visit http://www.laborrights.org!
